Our Board of Trustees.
We are governed by a Board of Trustees rather than a Board of Directors as “trustee” better captures the custodial function that is appropriate for our educational organization. The term connotes positive action, care, and the “trust” to hold our higher purpose.
Our Board of Trustees are the fiduciaries who steer Breakwater towards a sustainable future by adopting sound, ethical, and legal governance and financial management policies that support adequate resources to advance our Mission.
The Board follows the National Association of Independent School's principles of best practice. Our Board of Trustees oversees the entire Breakwater Learning non-profit organization including our School, Enrichment Center, and Parent and Professional Development.
We purposefully comprise Board membership to reflect diverse experience in education, business, health, law, art, entrepreneurship and other areas of expertise. Board members are deeply committed to Breakwater's mission and core beliefs and are fully engaged in the Breakwater community. We are continually looking for additional trustees who are inspired, excited, invested and offer unique perspectives. Interested members of the broader community are invited to inquire about participation through our Contact Us page.
