Meet Erica Paul - Breakwater Toddler Teacher

At Breakwater we want for our students to explore the world confident in themselves, with a sense of purpose and compassion, belief in their own agency, and the resilience to embrace mistakes. We affirm the integrity of childhood by placing high value on play, balancing the education of the heart and the mind equally. Breakwater's ability to succeed in this is made possible by a talented, enthusiastic, and loving faculty who live these same aspirations in their everyday lives. Our teachers and staff are recruited and retained based on their professional skills, their willingness to model our mission in every respect, and their commitment to professional and personal growth.

We’d like to introduce you to Erica Paul. We celebrate Erica for her constant grace and for being a consistent guide of wonder for our youngest learners. Erica has a way of maintaining a joyful classroom (both indoors and out!) while constantly showing the utmost respect, consideration and appreciation for all the ways our toddlers learn. She has the ability to be silly and playful, while also being a great source of comfort to children as they grow through their earliest school experiences. Erica loves to cook with children, engage with them during woods walks, and find all the simple joys in the natural world: puddles, acorn whistles, monarch metamorphosis, and running water. Erica is a strong and steady presence, a limitless advocate for children and how they learn, and a lover of loose parts and student driven inquiry. She is a true Reggio Emilia inspired educator in all its forms and we feel so fortunate to have her as part of our teaching team. Erica holds a B.S in Early Childhood Special Education and has been teaching at Breakwater for four years. Watch the video below to learn more about Erica’s love and commitment to Breakwater and how much she values those crucial early learning experiences for how they shape and grow children towards becoming resilient, inquisitive students.
